Getting Into the Spirit of Things

Thought I'd share with you my Christmas Advent calendar book.

I must say, some days it's pretty hard to stay on track! So we've skipped a few here and there. I really tried to keep to the things we would be doing anyway, just adding to it slightly or assigning it to a certain day. For example, we get gifts for teachers anyway, or write cards anyway. We always donate to the Salvation Army, although, on that day we did the whole search for coins & by the time we left the house there weren't any bell ringers out, so the coins are still riding around in a jar in the car! :)

Today, I have the extra meals to think about. It's a harder one, I admit. But one of the ones that all year I really thought about and wanted to include in a tradition in some way. Hopefully, we'll get to drop the coins off at the same time!!

After

Last week, I posted the papers I would be using for this book. I have to admit, I struggled with them a bit! Generally, I'm not one for the super sweet, sugar baby, busyness. Then there was the whole issue of how to embellish the palette... What? No flowers?!

Anyway, I managed to push through my mental blocks and I love it! As I was just finishing it, I had a revelation about the title.

 I took pictures twice this morning, once without extra lighting and once with. It's just such a gray overcast depressing day, even the candy doesn't pop in the pics like it should!

Another Finished!

Will pink & brown ever go out of style? I hope not, they just compliment each other so well! It's fun to put the girl stuff together with all the flower embellishments & fun details.

Sometimes, I wonder who I'm kidding!

 Remember way back when I posted the palette for this book and said I would have some after pics the following week? I shudder to think of the actual date!

Apparently, I cannot get anything done before school starts, except chase my kids, of course! Now, finally I have those promised after pics.

The book is for a young boy, Ian. I thought it might be fun if he got to write his name on the front cover. I haven't completely decided on that though, jury's still out. Meanwhile...

Marcy, if you're reading this, I haven't forgotten you! The good news is that school did finally start, and this week is the first full week of the year! It makes my heart rejoice because it means I can get some real work done!

I'm now starting on some girly stuff, the before pics have been seen, so with any luck I'll have the after pics posted soon!
